Safe Skin

Are you confident?
Do you feel content with yourself?

Oh Jeez, How can I manage to look this bad?
My voice echoes within the walls of my brain as I stare hard into the mirror hoping that my reflection magically turns into something more attractive.

HAPPY DIWALI!
On this day filled with lights& sweets;
my thoughts of this blog resurfaced. So I decided-
It's time to shed some light in this beautiful corner of the internet where my thoughts and words can run hand-in-hand for a marathon and it doesn't matter if I win because, I'm part of something great.

Today, after a long time, I decided to write. The first thing that popped into my mind was about insecurities. It's almost impossible to just feel safe in our own skin, doesn't it?

Is it that I feel this way just because I'm sixteen? Or maybe I'm just clouded with bad judgement towards myself generally?
Do you remember wanting to hurl at yourself because of how you looked when you were eight years old?

It's like all the teenagers out there are these dolls kept in a dollhouse of insecurities and the world is waiting to see which one's head pops off first.

WAIT WHY DON'T I HAVE A THIGH GAP?
1KG INCREASED OVER THE WEEK? I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE EATEN CAKE!
OH NO
Starting to get tanned (?)
I CANT FIND MY FOUNDATION.

Where does this end?
Actually, where did this even begin?!
"Lose Weight!" "Oh darling, freckles don't look good on you. I'm so sorry you're stuck with them. Must be awful!" "Did you see that boy wearing the pink shirt? How girly can he get! He's on the runway or what?"
Since when did another person's opinion, change our lifestyle? Back in the 90s, curvy girls were the models on magazines and now that a size 2 model is on the vogue cover, we all have to become size zero? At a fragile age, we've been told that we can only be a certain way. What if you were always told that there wasn't only one way?

Albert Einstein,  Steve Jobs and the list goes on.
But what does that list have in common? We know their names. People who didn't take the same route.
You can be on that list. How?
By being you. "You are the best you that there will ever be."

So if there's anything I'd like for you to get out of this post,'
it's to be different.
Be different. Be unique. Be you.
There are enough people who are carbon copies of each other. Stand out of the magazine rack.
Stand out in a crowd. Do not blend in for anyone.

With that, it's a wrap. Hope you had a lovely reading.
